The Champions of innovation

The prize of German Economy was established to bring into focus Estonian  – German economical cooperation and to promote companies with the best experiences in this area. From 16 qualified companies and 5 finalists Asper Biotech was highlighted as the most innovative, as well as carrying most social value together with German scientific partners from well-known German Universities as Tübingen, Regensburg, Köln, Bonn, Bremen University, Humbolt University of Berlin, Bayer Julius-Mazimilians University, Charite Institut and many others.

“It was the great honor for 10 years of hard work,” said Asper Biotech CEO Koit Kikas: “Estonian – German scientific collaboration have turned out to be successful since the very beginning of our company and throughout the 11 years the level of partnerships have grown to be strategically essential for the development of our market potential ”

The 2009 German Economy Award was named “Innovation 2009” according to the Estonian Year of Innovation, launched by the Estonian Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communication. One of the members of jury was the Minister of Economic Affairs and Communications of Estonia, Mr. Juhan Parts.

In the ceremony persisted the patron of competition German Ambassador hr. Dr. Martin Hanz, the Chairman of Economic Affairs Committee of Estonian Parliament hr. Urmas Klaas,

President of German – Baltic Chamber of Commerce Maren Diale-Schnellschmidt,

Vice-president of German – Baltic Chamber of  Commerce Mrs Kaia Kirs.

“In Germany we call such type of companies “Hidden Champions, ” said Maren Diale-Schnellschmidt: “They provide absolutely high-tech product – gene tests, that would be never expected from such a small country as the Estonia.”

Asper Biotech is a genetic testing service company offering it’s portfolio of more than 30 DNA tests to the Medical Doctors and business partners in more than 50 countries worldwide. It’s eye disease unit Asper Ophthalmics has developed the world largest collection of diagnostic tests for inherited eye disorders. Ongoing worldwide research partnerships will lead to new state-of-the-art diagnostic DNA tests that revolutionize how the diseases will be diagnosed and moreover enable early detection of disease risks.

In 2010 Asper Biotech has quite an ambitious goal to grow its economical results up to 100% instead of global economical crisis. Targeted product development, partnership with 50 countries worldwide and bright list of high level scientists, Medical Doctors will enable to achieve the mission.
