Lactose Intolerance

Lactose Intolerance is a widespread metabolic disorder caused by the inability to digest lactose due to a shortage of the lactase enzyme. The typical symptoms of lactose intolerance (inactive lactase enzyme) include abdominal pain, bloating, flatus, diarrhea, and occasionally nausea and vomiting.

Asper Biotech testsĀ  the SNP near the lactase gene (-13910 C/T) which is linked to lactose intolerance. Today, lactose tolerance is diagnosed using the hydrogen breath test (HBT) or the lactose tolerance test (LTT).

The genetic test for lactose intolerance has the following advantages: it may help to differentiate patients with primary hypolactasia from those with lactose intolerance caused by secondary hypolactasia; the genotyping results are not influenced by exogenous factors such as incomplete fasting, antibiotics, or endoscopy prior to testing; a more comfortable experience for the patient, and a less time-consuming process than traditional methods.

The test is available with diagnostic package service (includes DNA extraction, genotyping, interpretation, hard copy of the results report).
