Glioblastoma
Glioblastomas are heterogeneous group of tumors originating from glial cells. Glioblastomas are most frequent in pediatric age. Approximately 60% from all the central nervous system tumors occur in children. Disease prevalence is 6-7:100 000 cases/year. Glioblastoma prognosis and treatment options depend on type and location of tumor, association to genetic disorders (e.g. neurofibromatosis) and tumor stage (localised or disseminated glioblastoma).
Glioblastoma test covers genes related to pediatric glioblastomas (IDH1, IDH2, EGFR, NF1, PTEN, PTPN11, RB1, TP53, TSC1, TSC2, PMS2, MLH1, MSH2, MSH6) and CDKN2A gene important in the development of brain tumors in adults. The microarray chip is designed for detection 156 genetic changes involved in the development of brain tumours.
The test is mainly used for scientific purposes. The DNA extracted from tumour tissue is the preferred material for analysis. The test is available with genotyping service (includes genotyping, electronical copy of the results report).
