Genetic testing process
Genetic testing labor

Once the genetic test of interest has been selected, appropriate materials should be collected from the patient. There are several options for that. Asper Biotech accepts blood shipped in EDTA containers, saliva samples (for the tests like AMD risk assessment, Apo E genotyping, Lactose Intolerance, resistance to norovirus infections) and of course already extracted DNA.

The sample should be shipped along with the special order form, preferably via express courier, to the Asper Biotech’s laboratory for processing. Once the samples arrive, they will be registered at Asper Biotech and delivery confirmation will be issued shortly thereafter. The sample will be sent immediately to the laboratory, where the genomic DNA will be extracted and the sample quality assessed.

If the sample quality is not sufficient for genetic testing for any reason, Asper Biotech will send a short notification. Extracted genomic DNA will be processed by the laboratory and raw DNA sequence data will be sent for further analysis to the experienced Asper Biotech’s analyst team for further extraction of mutation information.

Once the reports are generated and ordered and the initial interpretation is conducted, the results are ready to be sent to the customer.

Analysis report types

Short report of genotyping results - includes the  list of findings and mutations/polymorphisms. Interpretation of genotyping results is not included.

Complete report of genotyping results – includes the complete list of tested mutations/polymorphisms. Interpretation of genotyping results is not included.

Report of diagnostic package - interpretation of the testing results will be prepared by a medical doctor. The interpretation comprises clinical and/or genetic interpretation and describes clinical consequences of detected mutations. The biological interpretation includes detected mutations. Depending on the results of the doctor’s interpretation, it may give suggestions for further analysis and genetic counseling to the patient and the patient’s family members. An interpretation order form, with clinical anamnesis and family history, must be filled in for the diagnostic package.
